Keeping Track of Your Cycles After Tubal Reversal

Through the use of microsurgery a woman can have tubal ligation reversal surgery carried out, which requires that they stay in hospital for only 1 or 2 days. This will then give their body’s sufficient time to recover from the operation. It is also important that for several weeks after the operation they restrict and prevent themselves from carrying out any kind of strenuous physical activity. However when it comes to their ovulation cycles after tubal reversal surgery, many women do not actually understand what is happening with their bodies in this respect.
On average it will take around 4 to 6 weeks for a woman’s reproductive organs to heal properly and fully after tubal reversal surgery has been carried out. Yet even though their cycles are almost back to normal after the surgery has been completed, it is best for them to wait until they have gone through a couple of their ovulation cycles before they attempt to get pregnant.
In some cases, however, once the surgery has taken place, some women find that they become pregnant soon after their first cycle has taken place. But for many other women this is not the case and sometimes it can take up to 6 months or more before they are able to conceive.
Taking six months or longer to get pregnant after a tubal ligation reversal is a good reason to check in with your doctor. There could just be some other reasons why this is happening and you should have it checked out. One reason, though, could simply be how long it has been since you first had your tubal. A woman who had the operation more than ten years before her tubal reversal, is more likely to have problems getting pregnant than one who has had fewer years between the two operations.
Most likely the first thing the surgeon will do if it has been more than six months, is to inspect their fallopian tubes to be sure the tubes are open all the way. Sometimes something can happen that prevents this after surgery and they must be open for pregnancy to happen. If the tubes are open, then it’s time to look for some other reason. Sometimes it can be as simple as stress. The women not getting pregnant are worried about not getting pregnant. Therefore, they don’t get pregnant.
Sometimes they find that just because they have a period, it doesn’t actually mean that ovulation is taking place. What this means in the end, is that even if they are late, it doesn’t necessarily mean they are pregnant. Any woman with enough years knows that even the smallest upset in patterns and schedules can throw your system and cycles off.
One more thing that is a possibility, and for which your doctor will need to keep his eyes open, is that after tubal ligation reversal surgery, some women will have a tubal pregnancy. But this only happens in three to five percent of all women and should not be a large worry.
The best way for a woman to keep track of her cycles after tubal reversal surgery is to use an ovulation prediction kit. This will help her to see exactly when she is actually ovulating and will further help to identify those times when she may well be pregnant. However, if you find that your period is late by at least two days shortly following your operation, it is important that you contact your doctor immediately. They will then be able to carry out a test to see whether you are pregnant or not.
