If you have head lice you need to begin the process of eliminating them right away. Although this will kill a lot of the head lice, again, you are placing your health perilously at risk. I have a feeling that this myth began as a practical joke.

Suffocating Agents

The best treatment for head lice that you can discover is the application of a fluid that suffocates the lice. This treatment is suggested mainly for adults. If you are not sure your child can handle a head lice alternative treatment, call your doctor or pediatrician for help. Avoid the use of essential oils with small children.

Get your hair really drenched. Then, place over your entire hair the suffocating agent - shampoo, body lotion, Vaseline, conditioner, hair gel, massage oil, olive oil - it doesn’t matter. Let it sit for at least ten minutes. Then rake through out your hair with fine tooth comb, nit comb or flea comb. Wipe down the comb and all the resulting scum on a paper towel, then burn or trash the paper towel. Then, rinse your hair. Repeat in about three or four days.
