Many of us dream about the big house, nice car, lots of money idea. We dream about being our very own bosses, and not having to listen to someone telling us what to do all the time! However, most people either don’t realize they can work at home, they think it costs a fortune, or they don’t want to lose the security of their day job, which is really understanding, especially if you have a mortgage, or a family, or kids. Nonetheless, the solution to all your problems could go away if you start a home business! And the truth is, you can start a home business with no money at all, heck I did and so have millions of others! Ask yourself the following questions;

Do you have extra space in your house, or better yet an extra room or a home office?

Do you have an Internet connection, preferably cable or DSL?

Do you have a phone line, where you can send and receive calls?

If you do have all these things, then you already have the essentials of an office in which your home business can be made! Affiliate marketing is one of the easiest ways to get into working at home, this will provide you with the opportunity to either sell a product or a service. If your starting out with low capital overhead you may want to start with a service first. Once you make your decision you will need to sit down and make a business plan. You need to decide what services you can offer, as well as what skills you have.

For example, if you have experience in website design, you could register your website with Google or Yahoo. This allows your site to get traffic with the help of search engines. If you have a sales website, your traffic could just as well convert into sales. This is what you want, conversions from traffic, and not just any traffic but quality traffic. You could easily send 5 million junk visits to your site, and you might get one person interested. Or you could work at this, receive 5000 visits to your site and get 3000 people interested. Now, what do you think is the better option?

Another terrific way to receive traffic from other sites is to find someone that has a backlinking business. These people are writers, service providers, and businesses. They make it their job to give you what you need. You could do social bookmarking, manual submissions, article writing and submission, etc. These are all fantastically cheap but quality ways of getting your site out there and getting quality traffic! Personally I think article writers work the best because when we write an article (correctly) most of the people reading that article are essentially going to be targeted “viewers”. For example, very rarely will you find someone interested in buying a DVD player, reading an article about the fundamental theorem of calculus, unless they really are just interested in knowledge (like me). However, if you have a site about cell phones, and you get a writer to do an article about cell phones, and you get readers that like cell phones or want a cell phone, they will go to your site URL and poof that could be a sale! Easy as pie.

Finally, your site can make money in another way. When it is posted online you can essentially get Google AdSense to post ads on your site, and other things such as CPM banners which allow you to get paid X amount of dollars per thousand views. I know, doesn’t sound like a lot, but if your one of those people that naturally get a ton of traffic, this could realistically be a perfect venue for you! With AdSense, the more clicks, the more money you get.

If your truly tired of your offline job and really want to start working for yourself, stop making excuses and do it! There’s no time like the present. Through affiliate marketing programs having your own business and actually making money, is easier than you think. All it takes is some time, determination, persistence, and patience. By taking advantage of the programs that are already available to you, you can make money and improve your own marketing skills!
