You have heard of essential oils being used for manufacturing perfumes or making aromatherapy candles, but you might not be aware of its important use in the detoxification therapy.
As important cleansing agents, the essential oils derived from a number of sources are widely used in the holistic healing. They are however used in conjunction with a dietary and herbal detoxification programs to help body release the harmful toxins.
The human body is naturally armed with several detox organs as liver, kidney, skin, lungs and blood. These organs are engaged in constant elimination of the substances that are not good for the body. But the problem occurs when the toxin level goes beyond the limit that body can naturally handle. This excess toxin level in the body is the result of ingestion of wrong foods as well as the exposure to the environmental pollutants. The excess toxin manifests into such symptoms as fatigue, constipation, bad breath, low immunity, hormone imbalances, skin problems, poor circulation, and depression.
Essential oils derived from such sources as lemon, grapefruit or juniper help you to fight against these symptoms caused by foreign toxins.
How can these essential oils help you to detoxify?
They are massaged over your skin for some times prior to bath. Through the pores on the skin, they enter into your blood stream. Once they are in the bloodstream they travel to various parts of the body through the circulatory and lymphatic systems. These essential oils have a rather complex chemical structure and yields a direct effect on your body. It also enlivens up your mind and spirit.
Here is the description of some of the major essential oils that boosts up the detox mechanism of the body.
Lemon: This citrus oil is good at stimulating white blood cells and strengthens body’s immune system. The essential oil extracted from lemon has good detoxifying effect on the liver.
Grapefruit: This antiviral, antiseptic, diuretic essential oil is good for cleansing your digestive system and skin. In some people, however, this may cause photosensitivity.
